ICEA Certified Postpartum Doula

What I Do

You may be wondering what a postpartum doula does. The short answer is I do whatever I can to keep your previously normal life keep running the way it used to. The long answer is... longer. I am here to help with all of the mundane tasks of the house, like laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and cooking. I help you establish new routines for baby, and answer all of the questions you never thought you'd ask. I help overnight when you really, really just need some sleep. I help during the day when you need a shower or just a moment to yourself. I can help parents look out for developmental milestones in baby, and attend doctors appointments with you to take notes and advocate for your preferences. I teach birth parents self care to recover from birth, and all family members how to care for their mental health in this huge transition. I help new parents set boundaries with their family. I teach little stuff like how to change a diaper, and big stuff like how to be partners AND parents.  Most importantly, I help new parents turn their home into the safe, cozy post-birth nest they need to grow as a new family.

Why I Do It

Everyone knows it takes a village to raise a baby. But what do you do when your village doesn't live anywhere near you? Or when that village has lives of their own to manage? Our culture isn't built to sustain the village that uses to be available to new parents. But that doesn't change the fact that you NEED HELP. That's where I come in. I moved to Augusta in 2020. Moving to a new city in the midst of a global shutdown was incredibly isolating, and I spent most days just wishing I had a friend. As restrictions let up and I was able to explore my new city, I started building the community I wanted so badly, but it was no small matter. I know how hard it is to feel alone in the middle of major life events.  That feeling is why I am so passionate about building community. My love language is acts of service, and that works out perfectly for moms trying to recover physically from birth at the same time as learning the new role of Mom. I enjoy cooking for others, caring for moms and babies, and yes, I even enjoy cleaning! I'll take over all of those things running rampant in your brain so you can focus all of your energy on the one  part only you can do- be mama.
